Palm Os will eventually swith over to Linux-don’t ask me when, but it will happen eventually. Getting “bloody hands” with Linux at an early state will definitely help you use the full potential of the OS.

CNET released a nice list of basic things that one should know about Linux as a Windows user-it is just 10 points and can be read very fast. Here is a link for all of you:

  1. What exactly does it mean to have a PalmOS running over Unix?

    - Will the standard unix APIs be supported?

    - Will there be a terminal window application? Will it be possible to run only standard utils, such as “ls” or will general unix command-line apps be supported?

    - What about GUI apps?

  2. Hi,
there currently is a hot discussion about this and other topics at the PalmOs developers mailing list. It runs under the Topic Development for Palm OS is a mess.

POL is of course a topic there…

Personally, I am not really sure about supporting native Linux apps-I am really starting to see some major drawbacks that this may have(more on an other day).

    Best regards
