A lot of time has passed since we last covered GMAIL(Google’s email service, in case anyone of you doesnt know it yet) on TamsPalm. When we last discussed the service, they just closed down the isnoop.net gmail spooler.

Now, you can obtain GMAIL invites via a mobile phone in few countries. Doesnt that invalidate the points made above though? We dare to say: nope. Think of it this way. When an invite code is dispatched via SMS, Google can easily capture the number of the phone and store it in the account properties. Should someone then do crap with the account, one has an easy(ier) path to the culprit.

Basically, you can fully expect Google to give people more such opportunities to get access to GMAIL accounts-after all, they benefit from people clicking on the ads themselves. As long as the people clearly identify themselves when obtaining an account, google will not have any objections. Actually, the idea of a GMAIL dispenser stand at a major PGP keysigning party is not so far-fetched as it may seem!

But what you IMHO won’t ever see from Google is simple: a web-based freeforall signon form…

What do you think?
(BTW; there is a GMAIL Invitation giveaway right here)
