ZDNET Australia took a look at the Windows XP firewall, to start off, they do not consider it a valid protection method for a PC, as it blocks only incoming connections, but does not protect you against threats trying to “break out”!

Other than that, the article also tells you a bit of info about how to configure and use the firewall. A good read!
