It seems as Skype has some problems with some operating systems. There is no version for Palm OS, Windows 9x, N and ME aren’t supported, and under Windows 2000 the video features is disabled.

There is a solution, at least for the last problem. In Skype 2.0.4.3 BETA the video feature in Windows 2000 isn’t disabled. So download this version, I used it for weeks and can confirm that it’s stable. I only could test the video feature few times; it works but my calling partner told me that there is only 1 picture / 5 seconds. But perhaps my old computer, my connection or my webcam is the problem.

I’ve this solution from a German Skype forum MeinSkype.de. According to that thread, you also need the most actual DirectX version.

Now you can enjoy video calls in Windows 2000 ;)
