Today someone told me about “CIA World Factbook”, and as I already heard something about it and a version for Palm, I wanted to download and try it. And as some people reported about download problems on their Palm – it doesn’t download files > 2 MB or it doesn’t download any files – I decided to download the huge .ZIP file using NetFront.

My results: NetFront on my Tungsten C was able to download a ~ 37 MB file!!

I don’t want to tell much about the speed of this download – my wireless adapter doesn’t work good – it was fast, then it was slow, and then it didn’t receive any data for a few seconds… but I think it wasn’t longer than ~ 30 minutes.
It shows to me that Palms are able to download files and even huge files. What do you think?

  1. 37MB != Huge File…

    Try dling something like…oh…. perhaps a DL.TV episode… those are big. I would be very impressed if it could handle that.

  2. Hi,

    I’m from Germany and I don’t know what DL.TV is. But I’m sure I’ll find a bigger file somewhere. But 37 MB was the biggest file I ever downloaded. On my Palm 2 MB is even big because on the Palm everything is smaller :)

  3. Is there anyone that knows what files are on the blazer in the Palm T/X. I don’t really know what happen when I deleted some files and I might have deleted a small file either from WiFi or the Blazer, anyhow, I can access any Network throught the WiFi but I can’t get any URL files to load. I can access my router admin page and see and modify everthing but not the net. I even loaded this Netfront3 and it was successful many Thanks…but all I get is this statement everytime “Can’t Find Request Page” Can someone please look in there Palm T/X that has the Blazer v4.3 and get the list that it uses because it seems that it has control over URL viewing. If not what is need to be deleted to get NetFront3 to work instead. Please let me know ASAP.

  4. Try dl’ing the GPE Linux image.
    That was a ‘fun’ 87MB/1 hour. On Blazer none the less. Thanks to God for the good ole UnCache, which should be renamed to the StupidBlazer fix.
