I spotted this ad at a wall in Vomp, Tyrol:

Yikes! What does Luce mean? Whats it selling? Where’s that store? WTF?
Well, since I live in Vomp for many years, I know that Luce is an “in” bar in the city centre – about 5 km away from this ad. However, someone who has no idea can’t do anything with the ad…
So, when creating print ads, you should try to include contact information and information about what you want to sell. An ad like the one above is useless IMHO – what do you think?

I’ll agree. If I was just visiting I would think one of the two things:
1. This would be the sign for the building directly behind it.
2. The people that placed this ad must have done the garden work for the surrounding shrubbery (I am assuming that there are plants around).
As you said, this ad is useless. I would never have guessed what it was really representing.
Hi guys, not necessarilly.
Ads like this work, but ONLY if the public already know the brand being promoted. In this case the ad. is simply trying to keep the brand in the public eye.
Best example I can think of is the Nike ‘swoosh’ symbol and the words ‘Just do it’. in this ad. Nike is never mentioned.
Shssh, I’m an engineer, I can’t believe I wrote that marketting crap!
Hi,
but the problem is that this ad is 5 to 10km away from the bar. In fact, the bar is in a different village…
Best regards

In that context I totally agree with you,
that advertisement is pointless and confusing!
I do like the simplicity of it though
But yeah, no clue what it is for.
If the brand is so well known, why would you need to advertise it? And if it isn’t, the ad is useless. It means nothing to me anyway.
