When we wrote about the software of the Treo 700p many of you asked us how to get the new “Palm Skin” for Pocket Tunes out of the simulator, because it always crashed when you tried to copy it. But it seems as someone in a German Palm forum has it running on his Palm, and he attached it to his post so that you all can download it. And indeed it works:

  1. Sadly, this still does not work for me. Back to Amped…

  2. I just read this article for the first time. I’m excited because I am a 650 user, and have wanted this skin ever since the 700p came out.

I just grabbed the skin from the linked German site. NOTE: if you want to hotsync, you need to first sync it to an SD card. Then you can either choose the skin from the card, or copy the skin to RAM. You can do this with Pocket Tunes, it’s easy.

Now that I have the skin installed, I LOVE IT!
You have all the features I have always wanted with a Pocket Tunes skin:
    * Remaining track time, and total track time.
    * Display song details and playlist, simultaneously.
    * You now have much better 5-way support.
    * The touch screen is much easier to use without the need for the stylus.
    * The Genre is is also displayed.
    * Plus, the UI looks great. The layout looks like there is room for album art…I’m guessing album art will be available in the next release of Pocket Tunes.

Absolutely excellent! My only question, why has NormSoft not made this skin available to customers not using the 700p?
