People(programmers especially) love to fight about the right language – Tiobe published a toplist of the most used programming languages at their web site:
http://www.tiobe.com/tpci.htm

Java is number one, and C is second(thanks to all the Palm OS programmers, w00t:-)). C++ is third, Basic is foruth and PHP is fifth. Ah, and for our D freaks: D is number 16, and Ruby is 12.

Visit their site for more information on how they gathered the data, historical trends, etc…

  1. For the record… Java really shouldn’t be used nearly as much as it is. It is only notable for web applications. (Me = C/C++ Loyalist — what else?)

  2. Hi,
and dont forget all the J2ME crap you see in TV all the time…

    Best regards
