Freewarepalm.com has a new project in its list that turns one of the hard buttons into a power button. This could be useful as I heard that the T5/TX power button wouldn’t be very stable.

AuDodo has done this for a while.

BTW, “au dodo” means “to go to bed” in French
Thank you very much for this link! Although I just sent my Palm TX to the repair centre (and it seems to return just as we speak… taking 8 days from sending it to receiving it - thank you, Palm customer support, I might buy the Treo680 now), I’m not sure whether or not they fixed the powerbutton which I forgot to tell them about.
So, this program rather aids to fix my own inaptness to tell the supportspeople the whole story on whats wrong with my palm than anything else, nonetheless… my Tungsten E will need this fix anyway.

Hi Deucalion,
you could always try to open the handheld and somehow fix the buttom from the back. Solder in a new one and then fit in some glue to hold the button in place.
If you could unblock me in IRC; we could talk about it there( =) )!
Best regards
Tam Hanna
Did you block him because of his behaviour?!
I was really really tired at that time, so… yes, I did.
Albeit hesitantly I now purged my ignore-list in my irc client… I will see what good that will do to my sanity.
Thank you for reply… I think I might even replace the powerbutton at least for my Tungsten E, which has about the same problem. I am however somewhat uneager to do so on my TX, as it is still covered by guarantee and I wouldn’t want to invalidate it.
As soon as university gives me a few days I don’t have to learn, I will get back to you on that matter, in case the palm support people didn’t fix it.
Thank you!
Kind regards,
Deucalion
