As you may probably know, I beta-test for a few programs. One of the developers recently forwarded me this:
Hi,
> It seems there is no way to exit foobar.prc on a Treo.
What should we do? Give him a menu button or an icon?
PalmSource states that Palm OS applications usually don’t need an exit menu button or command. The home key aka launcher is the standard way to exit a Palm OS program, and this should stay this way.
DocumentsToGo’s doc list view has no dedicated exit button; the exit button is only in the document editors as those need it. I state this just in case anyone wonders…

Well and i want for the “Undo”-button. Isn’t it possible to create a central “Undo”-button or hardkey into PalmOS?
Hi,
what should that do?
=)

Undo seems undo … like in all windows programs.
I think the last 3 or 5 operations were done could also be “undone”!
Hi,
ha ha. Every developer would need to implement this himself =).

So this perfectly highlights the problem with the newer Palms (like my TX) that no longer have a “Home” in the graffiti area.
By following the Palm guidelines, older programs assumed it was perfectly acceptable to capture signals to all of the hardware buttons.
On my TX, I am often forced to manually switch from the G2 virtual graffiti area back to the G1 version, just to get access to that “Home”.
If only Palm had chosen to integrate that Home button somewhere in the new interface, such as the row of icons at the bottom of the screen… any thoughts?
Hi,
I never was a fan of Palms placement either…IMHO, they should have abandoned Find instead.
In fact, when I had Schrinner’s TX, I was pissed at it all the time because of that feature. Always tapped on the wrong button =(.
Yeah, we are all animals of habit!

MySkin (maybe fitalyVirtualt3+TX patch) allows you to change the find button to a home icon. try it! (just turn this function off if you uninstall it or you’ll end up with a hoem button that finds!
Hi phreakA,
gotta ask Chris to take a look at it!
