Damn at all the noise....
I can see both sides of this also, bu if Dmitry's prorams weren't so good to begin with, then no one would need to get a keygen for it.
I'm not saying either way about Dmitry 'cause I don't know, but a hacker gets hacked, that's the way it works. Sometimes the hacks make it work better. That's what hackers do. Crackers n the other hand are the deviants. And when the world comes to a standstill because of aliens, are own AI or power hungry governments; I want the hackers and crackers on my side.

dmitris products are cutting edge hax. nobody needs to cry if they brick their device hacking it. i read the documentation that dude distrubuted with the programs.
Fairly warned, ye were.

about piracy. hmm. i found this page whilst looking for a keygen. cuz i can't afford to pay for this program. i am poor. im lucky to have my palm. so frankly, its either i use udmh, or i dont. and that's between me and me. And if i do get it to work, i might pay for it legitimately later. it wouldnt' be the first time. but reading all this noise wasted my time lol.
Nice work dmitri. top notch coding 'tu

If you don't like Dmitry's software, don't use it. But to b***h & moan because he spent endless hours producing software & then gets upset about it being stolen, are you that daft? When's the last time you did anything for free, and for ungrateful degenerates at that? He has every right to be upset, just as you would be too. Unless you are a freeware developer, you haven't earned the right to b***h about this.

As a software maker I know the situation is not as simple as some people make it. I don't bother wasting my time, effort or money on copy protection simply because it is established that it is a waste. People who want to pay for my software will do it anyway. Those that don't will find a way to copy it. If they do it is no loss to me. They wouldn't have bought it and they haven't stolen anything because I still have my code and my product. My income went up when I stopped using copy protection - sales didn't change, but I was no longer spending valuable time and money trying to stop the inevitable.

PS - the sucky part also includes software developers who don't get paid by all the people using their software! (Sorry - forgot to add that, too!)

I'm not new to PDAs (been using them for 10 years & have had about 6 of them) but I AM new to third party software for PDAs, since I've only recently graduated to "power user". So I suspect I'm not "getting" the irony of this blog entry, since I'm not privy to the backstory.

But that's not going to stop me from commenting! ;-)

Piracy is not a problem for EVERYONE in the Palm community. It's a problem for EVERYONE. Period. (Unless you're 89 years old & living in a nursing home.)

I'm a software developer from way back. I mean waaaay back. No, not the days when you hard wired the boards, but I do have some keypunch (cards) experience under my belt. I also remember lugging around multi-tiered disc packs. What a pain, but it was very cool, because everyone who knew anything knew you were hard core. But I digress.

Piracy is a problem for everyone. Plus, it's just plain wrong. I don't know why it is, but (probably otherwise) good people who would never dream of walking into a store & stealing something they can hold in their hands have no qualms about getting keygens or cracks for software. People who can't afford to pay their rent are using Adobe Photoshop. Or Dreamweaver. Hmmm... Somehow, to a select group of people, they don't see all the brainstorming, thoughts, late nights, sweat, coffee, beer & pizza that went into developing & creating great apps that make our lives easier, better and/or more fun. And therefore, the price, whether it's $14.95 or $399 seems ridiculous to them & they feel justified in using the software illegally. Go figure.

I'm not a visionary, so I don't know how piracy will affect trying & purchasing software as we know it today. But I do know it WILL affect it. And if the effect is similar with software the way it has affected most things in our lives, the bad guys will make it harder for the good guys to get things done. That's the sucky part.

Well, I do not know his past history.
As for now, I can see Dmitry's excellent skills in playing with our (loved) palms.
His PowerDigi is the only one digitizer calibration tool which works on my T3, so if I really can't stand the drift I will end paying his small fee for such a useful app. Shame on Palm for not having done this kind of SW part of the standard OS features.
I could also play with Bluepill on a Treo680... Very nice! ;-)
And shame to those lamers for stealing him his deserved money.

"When you work on very low system levels “hacking” things (playing with memory) you run the risk of bricking things.

I'd agree if this wasnt done intentionally, but Dmitry has bragged endlessly about making programs that will INDEED brick your device; then he laughs about it.

So, if someone hacked his software, I say woot wooooot for them; he's just getting what he has been giving.

When one produces great apps, they shouldnt have to toot their own horn; the users of that app will do it for you. Dmitry feels the need to throw it in your face on how great he is; which for me just means I'll NEVER use anything he codes.

Dmitry, you really should be ashamed of yourself; if you had not stolen from others in the past, I'd say you have every right to be pissed; but YOU are the hypocrite and will probably remain one as long as you are Dmitry!
