Palm has finally managed to post a web site on Windows Vista compatibility:
http://www.palm.com/us/support/windowsvista/index.html

As of now, Palm Desktop is said to synchronize the PIM data under Windows Vista. However:

Palm Quick Install (the desktop application that allows you to move files like .prc and .pdb to your Palm device) and Palm® LifeDrive™ mobile manager software are not currently Vista compatible. Please check back for updates.

So, if I understand this correctly, installing PRC files to Palm handhelds or PDA’s at Hotsync is not possible under Windows Vista.

  1. How’s that a big deal? IT’s faster, easier, more convient, etc. to copy the files to my card. i haven’t hotsynced in weeks :) … And then you instantly have a copy of it when you delete it.

  2. The software does not work properly with the Home Premium version of VISTA. My task will not synch up.

  3. anyone have a solution for the lifedrive desktop software not working with windows roaming profiles?

  4. i also have vista home premium and i’ve been on the phone and live chats with tech people from palm, microsoft and sony. and each one seems to point the finger at the other. I cant get my sony clie pda or my magellan gps to hotsync with vista home premium.
It seems that the big companies dont care because if they dont have a fix you either discard the item or but a new one and if you do make sure it has windows mobile as the operating system as from what i can gather palm OS is on the way out BIGTIME. Or better yet just keep an old XP computer kicking around for this.and for the other comment about pulling the memory card out and transfering the data thataway , forget it ive tried ,cant get the palm desktop program to recognize its there. fun fun , better luck and what about all the sorry ones who bought these treo phones HA HA

  5. Hi,
afaik, there is a Palm Desktop update that allows Palm based machines to sync. As for the other ones, dont ask me=).

    Best regards
    Tam Hanna

  6. wrote a Quick Installer (freeware) that works with Vista.

Download from http://btsolved.com on bottom of page also works with other palm devices on vista

    Take care,

    Von..

  7. Does anyone have HotSync Manager version 4.2, for palm treo, from the CD that they can post. It is still not added to the palm site and I need it to run the dial-up network so I can connect my laptop to the internet while on the road.

  8. Não estou conseguindo sincronizar o Palm com o outlook. Gostaria de saber se alguem já conseguiu realizar essa configuração? Utilizo Windows Vista Ultimate. Meu Palm e o Palm Handheld TX.
