Now it is possible to extract RAR and 7z files on you Palm handheld. All you need is the Palm Java VM which is available here and the Java application MobileRAR. At first you must Hotsync the Java VM to your device. If no Hotsync is available for you, you can try the WebSphere JVM Installer v1.0. So that MR is able to work, you need an additional file (fileconnect.prc), which can be found in the folder “JSR75″ in the Java VM installation archive.

Then install MobileRAR via the VM installation assistent or use this PRC file: Mobile RAR PRC. Now you should be able to extract RAR, 7z and ZIP files with Mobile RAR:

For every archive, MobileRAR creates a folder in which the content will be copied. E.g. the archive is located at /palm/MobileRAR/Archive.rar it will copy the content to /palm/MobileRAR/Archive.

  14. Just tried MobileRAR on my T5. It has some problems! It did not unzip zip files, it did extract .rar files but it seems that some files (.prc files) get extracted with zero file length! Do not know if the .rar files I tested were bad or there is a bug in the MobileRAR pgm.
