On the gmail login page there is a news bit entitled “New! IMAP Access!”

While this has been in the pipes for a while (a few slashdot articles show a few users getting beta testing of it) the news article states that “We’re rolling it out to everyone over the next few days”.

Will you enable GMail’s IMAP access?

  1. btb, I have IMAP already :-)

  2. Gmail IMAP support also the idle Feature ;-) Perfect for using PushMail with ChatterEmail !

  3. Enabled by default, it seems.

  4. Hi guys,

yep, looks like more and more people are getting IMAP support. Mine was also enabled by default. Very cool. :-) Now TBird has my folders by default, and my filters, etc. :-D Very cool

  5. Not sure how useful it is for Palm users.

    VersaMail: incompatible.
Chattermail: compatible, but there’s a well-known bug (developer has acknowledged) where anything with attachments or HTML-formatted mail comes through as “raw”. Makes things unusable.

  6. My Gmail account has had IMAP for at least a 1 ½ weeks :-) Don’t really use it though (just use the web interface).
