This could be very important for all of you using Verizon phones:

Effective sometime in March; each SMS costs you 20 cents! The 15cent pricing is no longer valid. Once again: 1 SMS=20 cents!

RCRWireless, the news service that broke the news about this price hike, claims that Verizon is doing this in order to encourage customers to switch to their dedicated message plans.

As a sidenote: most Austrian carriers charge 20 euro cents(approx 30 US cents) per SMS…

  2. Just as an additional comment – those in a contract, but not having a text package, may cancel their contract without a termination fee on the basis of the change causing them “material harm” as long as they do it soon.

    It’s what I’m doing. Virgin Mobile here I come.
