Dmitry Grinberg’s long-announced SDHC driver has just been released!
The program costs 21$ and currently supports the following handhelds:
- Tungsten T|C
- Tungsten E2
- Tungsten T|5
- LifeDrive
- Palm TX
- Zire 31
- Zire 72
Support for other machines (notably the T|T3 and the Zodiac) is said to be upcoming soon. A member of the TamsPalm team has tested the product on a LifeDrive and can confirm that it works well - the screenshots below show a LifeDrive duking it out with a 4GB card:

P.S. A free trial can be obtained from Dmitry’s web site. As usual, don’t expect to see this product at any ESD…

I can’t help but notice that the 4GB pointed to disagrees with the 8GB that CardInfo shows below. I do know that the Palm FAT driver isn’t careful with the math and doesn’t report > 4G filesystems correctly, but from all reports it works correctly. I do wonder whether the “free space” is correct, and what happens when you use more than 4G of an 8G card.
Just bought it. Will buy SDHC hard today and do some benchmarks
I made these pictures….
The card in the LD *IS* a 8GB Transcend. PalmOS ist just too stupid to display the correct amount of available and free storage space. The data on the bottom of the screen “Transcend 8GB SDHC card” is correct.
I made several benchmarks - PowerSDHC is notably faster than the stock driver of my Treo 680.
From the SHDC driver card page:
“PalmOS cannot display card sizes over 4GB or free space over 4GB. This does not mean it cannot use them, just that the display of card size and free space will be wrong. You WILL be able to use the WHOLE card size!”
So yes, it will use over 4GB…
My Bhajis Loops sample library just suddenly got a whole lot bigger!
Use my freeware hack CardSize to get PalmOS to come closer to showing true free space (and as a bonus if you run CardSize itself, it will show REAL TRUE sizes)
What “launcher” program are you using in the pictures above?
For me it looks like ZLauncher…
Launcher is ZLauncher with Vista Theme and on Livedrive mykbd with vista theme
Just bought the driver for my TX, it is awesome, works really well!
What means ESD?
Hello,
an ESD is short for Electronic Software Distributor and is a web site like MobiHand or PalmGear (which sells software).
All the best
