...from one of the foremost academics in the Java world on memory management (including garbage collection). He&#039;d written a whole bunch of papers and a toolkit for evaluating different collection policies. As to the &quot;mark-sweep&quot; question, that&#039;s loaded. Most modern VMs do some sort of hybrid collection, which have some elements of marking and sweeping :)</description>
