emblaze mobile else Emblaze Else the next ALP smartphone projectEmblaze Mobile seems to be the only manufacturer who seems to be interested in Access’s ALP platform.

The picture on the left shows the Emblaze Else, which Ryan Kairer’s PalmInfoCenter describes as following:

Access and Emblaze Mobile have announced a new Access Linux Platform powered device at an Access developer event going on this week in Tokyo. The device will be branded as the ELSE and is running a specialized version of ALP v3.0 called the Else Intuition platform.

As the boys have stated neither shipment ETA nor pricing as of this writing, I can recommend you all to keep a large grain of salt handy. After all, this wouldn’t be the first time that a manufacturer announces a Palmary box and then kills it off silently.

Either way: let’s see what happens…

Emblaze promises a proper launch for the Else on November 24th. The company said the device is on trial with a number of European and US carriers.

    I think that this device’s features are very impressive:a 3.5-inch, 854 x 480 capacitive touchscreen WiFi/3G/Bluetooth/GPS, built in accelerometers, and a 5 MP camera. As far as radios go, it’s stuffed: WCDMA/HSDPA/GSM/GPRS/EDGE: Quad-band 850/900/1800/1900MHz and Tri-band 850/1900/2100MHz.

Also, I think the UI looks great and is very “clean” in its presentation. It seems easily accessible.

I think this device has the potential to provide real competition to some of the bigger names in the industry.

I like the idea that Else has a seperate display above the main screen which goes on even the phone is locked.
and worth mentioning, they have a 8X zoom camera.

    @ Lilian
i totally agree with you. the seperated display on top of the main screen is such a delight! It’s those small things that make you CHOOSE that cellphone!
    A great Hooray to Else!!!
