Rumors of upcoming Flash support for the Palm Pre have popped up here and there. Adobe had a stand at the MWC – and it wouldn’t be the Tamoggemon Content network if we didn’t have some shots to share thanks to a secret informer…

First of all, a look at the booth in general:

Adobe had multiple demo units consisting of the four phones below – you were allowed to freely use and photograph three of them:

The Pre was excluded, and was locked:

I approached a guy, and was offered a demo. The Pre contained a special demo application which mentioned various Flash apps:

My demo man insisted on going to MiniClip – in Portrait mode, the game worked well but was unplayable as the elements on the screen were too small to tap:

Going to landscape mode worked well:

In the end, the Flash implementation on the Pre can be considered “market-leading” and is definitely on par with most other devices. It works well, works fast and is stable – if an app has large controls, Pre folks should be able to take advantage of it without any eekers…

  1. Deciding whether a flash implementation is stable from a given sample of flash applications does not seem reliable. You could get the same result with Gnash which is actually faster than Adobe Flash in some applications, but it still lacks compatibility at some points.

  2. Hi Thammi,
long time no hear – thanks for talking back!

I can understand your concerns. However, I was allowed to try quite a few apps and they all worked.

So, it at least is better than the “Flash” currently on Nokia’s devices…
