Verizon’s official asking prices for the Pre and Pixi are all but a joke – retailers like Walmart and Amazon have had them for significantly lower rates for quite some time.

Verizon apparently figured that out now, and lowered prices in response:

In a Thursday statement, Verizon spokeswoman Brenda Raney revealed that the price of Pre Plus has been reduced from $150 to $50; while that of Pixi Plus has been slashed from $80 to $30. However, both the devices will be available with two-year Verizon contracts.

Not much to add here…

Palm’s Mobile Hotspot solution is interesting – while similar features have been available for other devices for some time, Palm is the first to bundle it into the firmware.

So far, Verizon charged its customers an extra 20$ per month for this…but no more. Effective immediately, Mobile Hotspot service is free. New customers can add the product to their plan for 0$, while Verizon claims that existing customers will be charged 0$/mo come the next month.

Sounds good to me…

This is just a quick heads-up to let you all know that webOS 1.4.1 is on its way to Pres all over the world.

As always, expect the update to drop automatically…

Looks like all the rumors about the Palm Pre for AT&T being delayed weren’t so true – AT&T stores all over the USA will get practice units in the near future.

Engadget got their hands onto the shot below:
