Dear Readers,
WordPress once was an excellent blogging platform – focused on downward compatibility, upgrades were painless and didn’t require any theme-fiddling.
Unfortunately, everything good comes to an end. Our theme, which was originally designed by an individual called Shamsul Azhar (who has since disappeared), has now reached the end of life point…and must be replaced.
Given that the design was indeed somewhat dated, I felt that it was time to try something new. Over the next 12 hours, you will see the new identity of the Tamoggemon Content Network. We have a few surprises in stock for you:
Different design
So far, mobile-related web sites always were black-on-white. We go the other way – and hope that you will like it!
Rotating background images
This is another little nicety we have in stock. If all works well, you will soon be able to feast your eyes on a different background image every day. Artistic, mobile-related, funny – Doris is currently curating a kickass selection for your viewing pleasure.
It is our target to make the TCN stand out from the rest of the mobile media not only by delivering quality content and analysis, but also in a visually appealing sense.
Unfortunately, good things take time. So, please bear with us as some small things break – and keep us in the loop by sending emails to tamhan (at) tamoggemon (dot) com. Or, shoot us a tweet via @tamhanna.
Please let us know what you think! Help us make the TCN the best-looking content source!

Turn that fu**ing background off. Page is increndibly slow to scroll and you can’t see what’s there otoh. Bad color selection makes it hard to read.
Hi bsp,
thank you so much for talking back!
The background used yesterday was too large – is the one we currently use better?
All the best
Tam Hanna
The background is fine now, everything is easy to read. The thing I would do is put some of your personality into the site other than color. For the title use a custom font or at least one that doesn’t look so generic. Or even better make a logo that incorporates the name of the site. Something so when people come to the site they get a feeling about you. Visuals are very big for a lot of people. The site look like a generic WordPress template, its good to put some of you into the look of it.
This is better than the other site, the old site kind of looked sterile. I go through Google reader and I see topics that are interesting to me and it doesn’t matter for the site. You don’t just want people like me, you also want people to bookmark your site and check it on a daily basis and to some of those people visuals are important.
Also maybe make a tag line instead of just “the palm OS/web OS blog”. Maybe something like “The place you come for everythnig Palm OS and WebOS?” Or “Everthing you need to know about Palm OS and WebOS”.
I’m not sure if you want to now incorporate HP into it since they now own Palm? Are you going to do HP stories as well or just if they have to do with their Palm line?
Are you doing this site just as a hobby or as income?
You have good articles and good you’re good at commenting on peoples input on the articles which is why I enjoy the site. I just wish I’d see more of your personality in the site.
I thought something was wrong with my browser at first. I think the foreground is too translucent and as a result that background makes it a little difficult to read.
Hi Folks,
thank you so much! I have now tweaked the translucency settings a bit – is it better now?
As for the font: I have planned to use our corporate font for some time. But I have yet to find a way to embed the font…
With best regards

P.S. Follow tamhanna on twitter to find out more about the background images!
Oh, well I no very little about making websites. I use to a long time ago use Dreamweaver when it was easy and made some simplistic websites but nothing to complex.
The translucency is fine now. Is that revolving backgrounds or are you testing them out to see which ones you like better?
And now I’m following you on Twitter. Not that I go on Twitter much
Robert
It is much more readable now. However, the back ground image is different so I don’t know if it is just the darker image that is making it more readable.
readability, loading time and scrolling speed still suck.
More radical than blocking the background JPG with AdBlock+ (Firefox): turning off the page style in Firefox suddenly makes everything very readable. Bland, but readeable black on white text. Better than gray on gray…
Best compromise for firefox users:
Turn off background and ads with “AdBlock+” and use “No Color” to obtain black on white text. Layout is kept, it’s ok after all, but with clean black-on-white text, the site is VERY readable again.
Tam, without these tweaks, your site is in for the http://www.webpagesthatsuck.com award!
Hi Folks,
as said – I am working on improving the background display and the images.
But this takes time. Please bear with me ;(
With best regards
