HTC might buy HP webOS

When HP announced the “end” of webOS hardware, it clearly stated that it would continue to operate the software division. For me, this smelled like a bid to lure angry Android licensees from day one…and it looks like the flies are approaching.

Cher Wang, the chairman (or, rather, chairwoman – she is female) of HTC, is quoted as following by MBB:

… the company has mulled an acquisition of HP’s webOS platform, after the computing giant announced it would explore its strategic options for this business. While acknowledging that it had considered such a move, Wang said that the company will not make a buy “on impulse.”
