Long-term followers of this blog network most probably already know about the Krusell numbers. For all those of you new to the game: Krusell is a large Swedish case maker who has a tremendous sell-through to, well, less technical people. Their monthly sales report thus gives us a very good look at what people want “on the road”.

Krusell has now sent us the following list – it arrived slightly mangled and is posted here without any modifications:

PRESS RELEASE – Krusell – TOP-10 selling phones for March 2012.

1. (1) Apple iPhone 4/4S
2. (2) Samsung I9100 Galaxy S II
3. (3) Samsung Galaxy Nexus
4. (4) Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc/Arc S
5. (-) HTC One S
6. (-) Samsung GT-B2710 / Xcover 271
7. (5) Samsung Galaxy Note
8. (5) Samsung I9000 Galaxy S Alt..Xperia S
9. (-) HTC Sensation XL
10. (9) HTC Sensation
() = Last month’s position.

With five out of ten positions on Krusell’s Top seller list for March, Samsung shows their muscle says Ulf Sandberg CEO at Krusell. HTC with the new One S is the fast grower of the month and we expect to see both HTC One X and Sony’s flagship model Xperia S on the list next month.

Not much to add here…

  1. Would someone who knows these phones create a list showing what operating systems and versions are in use?
It would be interesting to me to see how long various OS and what versions are holding-up against the iPhone.
I use an old Palm phone so I’m always in the market for something and would like to avoid sheeping with the rest of the 1st place winners.

  2. I did a cheap and dirty look-up and complied this list. I did not account for manufacturer’s updates or anything the user/owners of the phones might have done.
I used wikipidea and one other site for my data.

    1. (1) Apple iPhone 4/4S iOS 5.1
    2. (2) Samsung I9100 Galaxy S II Android 4.0.3
    3. (3) Samsung Galaxy Nexus Android 4.0.1
    4. (4) Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc/Arc S Android 2.3.4, 4.0 as of Nov 2011
    5. (-) HTC One S Android 4.0
    6. (-) Samsung GT-B2710 / Xcover 271 Samsung “House” OS
    7. (5) Samsung Galaxy Note Android 2.3.6
    8. (5) Samsung I9000 Galaxy S Alt..Xperia S Android 2.3.6
    9. (-) HTC Sensation XL Android 2.3.3
    10. (9) HTC Sensation Android 2.3.3

Two points I would like to add, 1st if this list is complied from a case seller’s traffic, all I would assume from the information is that the phones -need- cases and/or they don’t come with any case and/or the people who buy these models are case-hounds.
2nd, Android seems to be the big deal here with only two phones -not- running an Android OS. Also, the newer versions always rank higher than the older versions. Are people buying these phones based on their performance/value or are the buying the newest and shiniest phone-toy the happen to find?
